Tecumseh Electric Starter ?

I just replaced my Tecumseh starter on my 1993 Craftsman lawnmower. 12hp. The starter spins when I hook a jumper pack to it but not through the battery. I assume the battery is dead. However shouldn’t I be able to start the mower by jumping the starter? When I jump it the starter doesn’t hit the fly wheel. Why? What can I do to fix it? Could it be my jumper pack is just not strong enough? Its 12v 6amp. Please tell me this is a simple inexpensive fix. thanks

I think you are right when you suspect a bad battery. Disconnect one of its terminals. If the battery is bad, the starter should work when jumped to the two terminals but not the bad battery.

Problems With Guitar Cable Amp?

I have an Ibanez Jump Starter Pack and it came with an amp and an input cable. Just recently i’ve been having problems with a very annoying buzzing noise and static noise. I don’t believe it’s the guitar nor the amp, if it were the guitar, the guys at Guitar Center would of told me when i got it tuned. I don’t know if i should get a new cable and if i do need one, which kind of cable would i need that will last me quite some time before it does what this cable does to me. Oh, and i also purchased this guitar about 4-5 months ago.

Cables always have been the week link in any audio system. And the cables that come with those guitar packs (and free with some guitars) are almost always extremely cheap poorly made ones.

Spend a few dollars and get yourself a good Planet Waves cable. In fact, get 2. No self respecting guitar player leaves the house with out spare cables, strings, picks, and batteries.

The cable is the easiest thing to swap out when troubleshooting a problem like this.

One word of advice…don’t assume that GC would have told you about a problem with the guitar. If you asked them to tune it, chances are then didn’t even plug it into an amp and listen to it.
