Need help with car cell charger and car battery?

I’m on vacation and forgot my charger. I’ve been periodically throwing my cell on the car charger (30 mins or so) while the car is not fully running. I went to start my car this AM and it barely started. I noticed what must be a battery light coming on/flashing now that the car is off. Did I screw up the battery or is there still hope for me?

You need to get your battery on a battery charger, your alternator will not fully charge a dead battery.

Here’s a tip I found out last year. Forgot your charger when you go on vacation. Check with your hotel front desk and ask to look in the lost and found and pick out another charger that fits. You can then leave that in the room when you leave. A hotel desk clerk told me that, because you can’t believe how many chargers get left behind.

How to revive old car battery with less than 2 volts?

I have an old car battery in my garage. It is about 10 years old and the voltage on it is about 1.8V. Is it possible to revive it using car charger? The battery was bought NEW and never used in the car. It was once fully charged and left for ~10 years. In winters it could have experienced -25C or more.

After sitting for ten years and not having been used at all, the odds of reviving that battery are pretty slim.

You could try charging it using a trickle type charger set at the lowest charge rate and leave it connected for a day or so.

Check and top off the water in the battery using distilled water first, then see what happens.

Nothing to lose by trying but don’t be surprised if the battery is beyond any help.
